Malmo in Cornwall is blessed with a beautiful creekside location close to the River Kennall. Drive ten minutes from the house, along winding tree-lined roads and you will find a series of beautiful harbour villages. Our favourites are Restronguet Creek, Mylor Bridge and Flushing.
Restronguet Creek is the smallest of the three, really more of a hamlet than a village. The road leading down to the Creek is narrow but you are rewarded at the bottom by a truly beautiful view and one of the nicest pubs in Cornwall. The thatched Pandora Inn is the stuff Cornish dreams are made of. They do great casual food (including a delicious cream tea) but the real draw is the opportunity to sip a drink as the sun goes down on their jetty which stretches out into a sea bobbing with boats. You can do a lovely walk from Mylor Bridge round to Restronguet Creek and reward yourself with a cold drink here at the end. Or, if you are feeling more adventourous hire a motor boat or kayak from nearby Mylor Bridge and make your way here by water instead.
Mylor Bridge has some handy local shops but the real draw is the harbour backed by an impossibly pretty old church with community gardens and a stretch of shingle beach which slopes around the headland.
The Mylor Cafe right on the water does fantastic food. The breakfasts in particular are worth booking ahead for. Let your kids burn off some energy afterwards on the tyre swings hung from trees that back onto the beach
On the other side of the water from Penryn lies Flushing with its pretty pastel houses, winding alleyways and stunning harbour views. Head to the beer garden of The Royal Standard pub for nice food and great views or sit outside the Seven Stars for a drink as the sun sets over the harbour.
