The Roseland Penninsula

July 28, 2021

One of our favourite places to explore from the house is the Roseland Pennisula. Start your day by heading to the King Harry car ferry which is just 10 minutes drive from the house but make time to stop on your way down at Tressilick Gardens.

Located on the road down to the ferry these beautiful National Trust gardens are a wild and beautiful place to spend an hour or two.

Catch the King Harry ferry and within 20 minutes of leaving the house you can be in beautiful St Mawes.

It has a wide mainly shingle beach and is a great place for trying your hand at sailing or paddle boarding. Make sure you book yourself a lunch in advance at either The Idle Rocks or swoon worthy Hotel Tresanton.

If you can’t get a table for lunch then Hotel Trensanton also has a beach club set into the rocks where you can have a drink with jaw dropping views For more casual dining/early evening drinks head to St Mawes Hotel right on the harbour.

Also on the Roseland, park your car on the outskirts of Porthscatho and then walk down through fields and along the coastal path to Porthcurnick beach and prepare to indulge in the best beach picnic of your life courtesy of the Hidden hut.

Open 11-4pm they serve delicious fresh seasonal lunches from an outdoor beach kitchen. After lunch wind your way back along the coastal path and walk into the pretty white washed village of Portscatho taking in

Towan Beach
Slightly further around the coast from Porthscatho, Towan beach is also a lovely quiet spot to base yourself for a day. At high tide it is a sand and shingle beach, at low tide rock pools are revealed for kids to explore.
The Thirstea Co cafe provides refreshments and there is an all weather path round through woods and the creekside.
